There's a kind of hush all over the world, tonight
All over the world, you can hear the sounds of lovers in love
You know what I mean
Just the two of us and nobody else, in sight
There's nobody else and I'm feelin' good just holdin' you tight.
So listen very carefully
Get closer now and you will see what I mean
It isn't a dream.
The only sound that you will hear
Is when I whisper in your ear
"I love you, forever and ever".
There's a kind of hush, all over the world, tonight
All over the world, people just like us are falling in love.
(bridge)
So listen very carefully
Get closer now and you will see what I mean
It isn't a dream.
The only sound that you will hear
Is when I whisper in your ear
"I love you forever and ever".
There's a kind of hush all over the world, tonight
All over the world, you can hear the sounds of lover's in love
(bridge to fade)
NOTES:
The Carpenters were a talented brother/sister singer/
songwriting duo hailing from Los Angeles CA USA.
As of 2013, they had sold more than 100 million units
(source BBC).
Their distinctive soft rock sound provided contrast
to the loud and raucous sounds of the day. As well
as singing, Karen was accomplished at drums and
brother Richard at piano.
Sadly, the duo's career ended prematurely with
the death of Karen Carpenter in 1983. She was
32 years old. The Grammy Hall Of Fame recognized
the Carpenters as providing music of 'lasting
qualitative or history significance'
(older than 25 years) by honouring them with
their prestigious award.
< There's A Kind Of Hush > was also released on the
'A' side of a 7 inch single in 1975. The 'B' side was
< I'm Caught Between Goodbye And I Love You > .
(see elsewhere in this ILP database).
