THE WAY IT GOES
(Lynsey De Paul / Malcolm Roberts)
Lynsey De Paul
Is this the way it goes?
Can anybody answer me?
Does it always show
When you never want it to?
And through my thoughts a glossy rainbow
Fading fast in shades of grey
Nothing ever changes
When you really want it to
And I see the strangest faces
In the crowds passing over me
And the only saving grace is
I'm protected by my memory
So if this is the way it goes
In time I shall find a friend
For he knows how to mend my mind
I can't complain...
There I go again
Holding on to yesterday
Chasing roads that run away
From things I want to see
And through the haze
A fresh horizon
Dawning dreams lie silently
Will I find a way to reach them?
Are they what they seem to be
Still I see the strangest faces
In the crowds passing over me
And the only saving grace is
I'm protected by my memory
Yes I see the strangest faces
In the crowds passing over me
And the only saving grace is
I'm protected by my memory
Doobee doo wah...
