We had to get somethin' new,
A dance'll do up here in Harlem,
So - someone started truckin'!
How there!
As soon as the news got round,
Well the folks downtown came up to Harlem,
And what they see boy?
Well everybody was truckin', yeah!
Didn't take long,
Before all the highbrows were doin' it,
Park Avenue-in' it!
all over town,
You'd see them shufflin', shufflin', truckin' along!
Boy, it spread like a forest blaze,
Became a craze,
and thanks to Harlem,
Right now,
Watch now,
Everybody's truckin'!
