TWO STRANGERS
(Bonnie Guitar)
Bonnie Guitar - 1969
A chill just fell across the table
Where we sit at the beginning of the day
But no happy smiling faces greet each other
As two strangers have breakfast today
I try to hide behind the morning paper
As I'm reaching up to brush a tear away
For the silence is so loud, my nerves are shattered
As two strangers have breakfast today
I didn't want to see my old love when he called last night
But he said he had to see me one more time
And when I slipped out to meet him, I thought it would be alright
But this morning I can't get him off my mind
Gotta hurry up and drink this cup of coffee
For I can't bear the final words he'll say
But I've never known the time to pass so slowly
As two strangers have breakfast today
