As sung by the Lennon Sisters 1957 < Let's Get Acquainted >
Every street I walk on becomes a lover's lane
When I'm with you
I can see the sun, though we're out in the rain
When I'm with you.
To lose you would be tragic
Here is my heart unfurled
You have the certain magic
You're the seven wonders of the world.
Snow is on the ground but the leaves are on the trees
When I'm with you
Flowers sing a love song, there's music in the breeze
When I'm with you.
Please let me make this confession
You are my magnificent obsession
The world is all in rhyme, Daddy dear
When I'm with you.
An ordinary day becomes a holiday
When I'm with you
I have lots of toys but I don't want to play
When I'm with you.
Oh Daddy how I miss you
You're busy all your life
The world is all in rhyme, Daddy dear
When I'm with you.
Notes:
The four Lennon sisters (of 6) were part of an 11 sibling family which
formed this traditional American pop group. They had a significant
pedigree, springing from being children of Bill Lennon who was a
vocalist with the Paul Whiteman and Freddie Martin bands. After over 50
years, the sisters are still performing as of 2013.
To music enthusiasts, the sisters are known for their first hit
Tonight, You Belong To Me in 1956 although the popularity of this song
(during the 1950s) really belonged to the 'one hit wonder' duo of
Patience and Prudence. Billy Rose and Lee David wrote the original music
and lyrics in 1926. (see elsewhere in this ILP database).

WHEN I'M WITH YOU
From the film "Poor Little Rich Girl" (1936)
This song/lyric was featured as the lead in music and throughout the
1936 film 'Poor Little Rich Girl' starring Shirley Temple. It was sung
by Shirley Temple, Michael Whalen and Alice Faye at different times
throughout the film.
[Michael Whalen & Shirley Temple]
Every street I walk on becomes a lover's lane
When I'm with you.
I can see the sun, though we're out in the rain
When I'm with you.
To lose you would be tragic
Here is my heart unfurled
You have that certain magic
You're the seven wonders of the world.
Snow is on the ground but the leaves are on the trees
When I'm with you
Flowers sing a love song, there's music in the breeze
When I'm with you.
Please let me make this confession
You are my magnificent obsession
The world is all in rhyme, lovely one
When I'm with you.
[Shirley Temple]
An ordinary day becomes a holiday
When I'm with you
I have lots of toys but I don't want to play
When I'm with you.
Oh Daddy how I miss you
You're busy all your life
I love to hug and kiss
Marry me and let me be your wife.
Every word I hear sounds like a lullaby
When I'm with you
Even funny spinach tastes like pumpkin pie
When I'm with you ooh-ooh.
In every dream I caress you
And every night I pray the Lord will bless you
The worlds a nursery rhyme Daddy dear
When I'm with you.
Alice Faye sings the exact same lyrics in the film as Michael Whalen but
alone and without Shirley Temple's last 4 verses.

WHEN I'M WITH YOU
As recorded by GENE AUSTIN:
You came along
And you looked at me so sweetly
You smiled so discreetly
And I fell so completely
You came along
And your arms were there to run to
Since that moment I'm spellbound
Darling, look what you've done to me
Ev'ry street I walk along becomes a lover's lane
When I'm with you
I can see the sun, though we're out in the rain
When I'm with you
To lose you would be tragic
Here is my heart unfurled
You have that certain magic
You're the seven wonders of the world
Snow is on the ground, but the leaves are on the trees
When I'm with you
Flowers sing a love song, there's music in the breeze
When I'm with you, hmm-hmm
Please let me make this confession
You are my magnificent obsession
The world is all in rhyme
Lovely one, when I'm with you
(Orchestral Interlude)
Snow is on the ground, but the leaves are on the trees
When I'm with you
Flowers sing a love song, there's music in the breeze
When I'm with you, hmm-hmm
Please let me make this confession
You are my magnificent obsession
The world is all in rhyme
Lovely one, when I'm with you
Lovely one, when I'm with you
