There's a mill standing by the water

Days went by, life was very merry

Like every song, this little song contains a moral, 
That perfect love is above a lover's quarrel!
For one day, angry words were spoken,
Boy and girl parted tearfully.
Sad to say, both their hearts were broken
By that mill down in Normandy.

Fate was strong, but their love was stronger

They could not hold out any longer,
They were both lonely as can be!

The girl and boy could not enjoy the summer weather,

Wedding bells rang in Normandy!
And they lived happily ever after
By the mill with their family!
