YOU SET MY HEART TO MUSIC
(Eaton Magoon Jr. (m & l) 1960)
Johnny Mathis 1961
You set my heart to music
When you came my way
You made my life a love song
I can sing each day.
All you did was smile
Scarcely touch my hand
You hardly said a word to me
When melody swelled in me.
You set my heart to music
Can it you hear it ring
Now morning, noon and evening
All I do is sing.
And pray that someday
I’ll be the composer
Who will set your heart to music too.
(bridge)
Now morning, noon and evening
All I do is sing.
And pray that someday
That I’ll be the composer
Who will set your heart to music too.
NOTES:
Johnny Mathis has sold over 350 million records
confirmed by Guinness World Records and was the
undisputed king of the romantic Fifties
‘make out ‘ music.
Interestingly, his Greatest Hits albums (3)
starting in 1958 of which this lyric
is part, were the beginning of a trend copied
by every record company to this
day (Greatest Hits). The first album of this
collection still holds the
distinction of being the second longest charting
album in the history of
Billboard (490 weeks).
