I remember September, the rain fallin' down
I thought the sun would never shine
I spent all my moments, I heard all the stories
Of you and your days gone by.
And while I was listenin', my mind it was driftin'
Dreamin' of the rainbows end.
And in all my confusion, somehow you got to me
And I have to say you taught me well.
Well into December, the snow fallin' down
I felt the cold wind through my door
I heard all the warnings, you brought to my bones
When ever a storm came by.
And how I remember, that comfort and care
Something like we'd always known
And in all my confusion, somehow you got to me
And I have to say you taught me well.
And how could I know, the words that you said
Would come back again and again
I didn't realize when I was your child
Just how the story would end.
Blessed are those
You've loved and you know
They never see them again
But you know in your heart
They all left their mark
And you only hope you'll do the same.
Then came the mornin' you walked out my door
I thought my heart would never mend
You spent all your seasons and gave me the reasons
To follow my rainbows end.
Then hearts that would listen
To words born of wisdom
Never dreamin' this would end
And in all my confusion, somehow you got to me
And I have to say you taught me well.
And how could I know, the words that you said
Would come back again and again
I didn't realize when I was your child
Just how the story would end.
And blessed are those
You've loved and you know
They never see them again
But you know in your heart
They all left their mark
And you only hope you'll do the same.
But you know in your heart
They all left their mark...
And you only hope you'll do the same.
